Inline hockey tournament in Salford this weekend

Wednesday, 26th April 2006

The Greater Manchester Inline Hockey League (GMIHL) is holding a tournament event this Saturday in Salford which will see teams of Under 12s and Under 10s competing for a total of five trophies.  Starting at 9am at the Salford University Sports Hall, teams from as far afield as Glossop, Preston, Stoke and Prestatyn will be competing against each other in a series of fast-paced three-on-three matches to determine who takes home the silverware!

The GMIHL comes under the auspices of the British Inline Puck Hockey Association (BIPHA - www.bipha.co.uk) who have previously staged hockey events in conjunction with Manchester Phoenix, and this Saturday's event will mark the reintroduction of Under 10s and Under 12s hockey into the League for the 2006-2007 season.  During the 2005-2006 season, GMIHL has provided inline hockey for Under 14, Under 16, Under 18, Under 21 and Senior levels, and are looking to expand their age groups at the start of next season.

The event is open to the public, so if you'd like to see the hockey stars of the future, the place to be is Salford University Sports Hall this Saturday!
