Friday, 24th November 2006

The Board of the bmibaby Elite League met on Wednesday for its regular monthly board meeting.

The Board was delighted to note that building work is nearing completion for the new ice rink in Cardiff and that the Devils will play their first game out of the new building on 2nd December against Newcastle Vipers.

The Directors of the league were unanimous in their expression of disappointment in the delays recently announced relating to the new Altrincham Ice Dome, home of the Manchester Phoenix.

The bmibaby Elite League wishes to reiterate its support for the Phoenix and owner Neil Morris, the league confirms it will assist all it can in helping the Manchester club through this difficult and unexpected period until the rink is ready for league action.

League Chairman Eamon Convery said, "The Board and all the clubs are 100% behind Neil and the Phoenix, and we all share his immense disappointment in these further delays. We wish all parties in Manchester to understand that the Phoenix are an integral part of the bmibaby Elite League. We are committed to the Phoenix and want all of the fans, sponsors and local authorities to be aware of our position and join us in supporting and assisting the club where necessary, especially through this difficult period."
