Manchester-based television station Channel m will shortly launch a dedicated weekly magazine programme focussing solely on the Manchester Phoenix Ice Hockey Club.

Officials from Channel m and the Phoenix have been negotiating how best to enhance the continuing partnership and the result is a fabulous opportunity for ice hockey to be screened across the north-west.

General Manager of Channel m, David Johnson commented, 'Channel m is delighted to announce that the continued partnership with Manchester Phoenix has culminated in a season long, weekly ice hockey programme, dedicated solely to the Phoenix and their thousands of fans.' Mr Johnson continued, 'Adding the Manchester Phoenix, one of the biggest names in British ice hockey to our sports roster for the coming year has been a massive boost and demonstrates Channel m's commitment to promoting all professional sports club in Greater Manchester to their regional fans.'

Channel m Head of Sport Andy Dickman added, 'the show will comprise game highlights, player interviews, a look behind the scenes and maybe some of the more quirky moments in fly-on-the-wall features, and we're really looking forward to a great season with the Phoenix.'

Phoenix MD Neil Morris remarked, 'we've had a great relationship with David and his team at Channel m and this takes the partnership to the next level of media exposure for our club, and of promoting bmibaby Elite League ice hockey to an even wider audience courtesy of television. I believe we'll be the first club in the league to have our own dedicated television programme and our thanks go to Channel m for once again making Manchester a city to lead the way. I'm sure our supporters will watch in great numbers.'

Phoenix supporters and north-west sports fans can expect to see the Phoenix programme aired on Tuesdays with repeat air time later each week.
