profile from 2003

After learning his trade in Sweden, Shin left the Elite League after one season with Leksands to try his luck in the North America after being spotted by a scout for Verdun in the QMJHL. Despite learning a lot from the different style of hockey, he was not drafted, so decided to try his luck in the Far East. He bacame a lynchpin for the Kokudo Bunnies, based in the capital city, and earned a spot on the national squad for the 1998 Nagano Olympics.

“I really enjoyed playing for the national team and representing my country. Playing in the Olympics has to be the most memorable time of my career – it was an honour to be a part of it and to get the chance to play against so many of the best players in the world.” Shins record for the National team consists of 39 goals and 57 assists for a total points haul of 96 in 102 games, including 2+3=5 during the Olympics.
