Ben Nevis Challenge update

Wednesday, 11th May 2005
This Friday, Manchester Phoenix's very own Andy Costigan and his daughter Hollie will be tackling the climb up Ben Nevis to raise money for Leukaemia Research.  With preparations for the fundraising climb well underway, Andy is looking forward to the challenge:

"Training and preparation has gone really well, including countless hours on a treadmill, numerous hikes around the Peak District and a four hour spurt up and down the 2885ft of Cadair Idris in North Wales.  We can't wait to tackle Ben Nevis, especially as the weather forecast is looking favourable."

It's not too late to pledge your support to Andy and Holly's fundraising attempt - a web page has been set up to help people donate sponsorship money.  Donations can be made by visiting www.justgiving.com/bennevchallenge

"Sponsorship is dead easy," Andy continues, "and the knowledge that hockey fans around the country and of course locally are wishing us well and helping Leukaemia Research in the process makes all the hours in the gym and in the hills all the more worthwhile.  It's been very thought-provoking and a humbling experience since we started this about how many people who are affected by blood disorders, it has made us even more determined to do this.  We'd like to say a huge thanks to all those who have already pledged support to the cause, and to anyone else who can spare a few quid... every penny we raise is going straight to Leukaemia Research."
