Meet the players

Tuesday, 20th September 2011

Monday September 19th saw the annual 'Meet The Players' event taking place at the Cresta Court Hotel in Altrincham, in front of a packed house full of the Phoenix faithful.

After a brief introduction from compere Pete Hagan, it was time to get things rolling with the introduction of Tony Hand and Neil Morris, closely followed by the undefeated Trafford Metros squad. All were received with a warm round of applause.

The Phoenix players were introduced one by one, in shirt number order. Each player was asked several questions by Pete Hagan, including questions about their summer antics and their newly bestowed team nicknames. It was an entertaining and educational experience for the audience, who now know more facts about Ciaran "The Hulk" Long and why Slava Koulikov is referred to as "Dave".

Martin Cingel served as translator for the seemingly indestructable Ladislav Harabin, and Juraj Faith talked of how hearing praise about the Phoenix organisation and supporters was an important factor in his decision to sign for Manchester.

The event wound to a close with a question and answer session, followed by the players and supporters mingling together for autographs, photographs, and a chat!
